Los Campesinos!

I hate to devalue the phrase, but this the best song I have heard in a long time. Trying to find the perfect match between pretensious and pop? Found it! These Cardiff based youngsters seem to be having of a lot of fun making pop-tunes that sound a hell of a lot better than what the lies they spread @ myspace “We just threw a few chords together…”. It’d be pure 100% brew twee without the overlap, and tangled melodies that unravel themselves to reveal a 7 headed, multi-coloured, glokenspiel wielding indie pop behemoth who just wants to sit outside your house and harmonise with the chimney pots.
I really should’ve waited a few more hours before doing 2 posts the best music of 2006 so far. “You Me Dancing” will be one of my favourite tracks of the year. “Indie power rangers” is about the best description of a band I’ve heard in a long time, and fits them nicely. And not only that but this song seems to recharge and refreshing; such is the rejuvunating power of indie pop, eh?!
I was really starting lose faith in UK bands producing fun and exciting indiepop to the degree of the US bands featured on US blogs like Gorilla Vs Bear on a daily basis. Thank the Lord of all things twee for Los Campesinos.

Mike, you are right, this is brill stuff - sorta My Latest Novelly early on and then it just finds a starburst of noise. Exhilarating.

You’re right, You! Me! Dancing! is definatly one of the top songs of 2006. I heard it first on MySpace but the download there took forever so I searched round on google for it. Very awkward seeing as they’re unsigned and unknown. But thankyou very much for the download!
You! Me! Dancing! really reminds me of sonic youth’s “Teen Age Riot”. Its almost the same song just 20 years later. check it out. saw them live in London and they had such great charisma, and top tunes..they are superb. another tip if you like a bit less pop and little more punk is Royal Treatment Plant who played before them. i think they have some tracks up too on myspace.com/royaltreatmenplant though not as good as they are live. a crime having so many good unsigned bands on one bill.

Just wanted to say… don’t be afraid of featuring songs more than once in your Take Your Medicine podcast. Often it does take two or three plays for something to grab you, and while ‘You! Me! Dancing!’ didn’t stick for me first time round I’m now loving it. Thanks.
Hey! I am totally loving Los Campesinos! I heard about a song of their’s called “It Started With a Mixtape” or something like that. A friend said she downloaded off of their myspace, but its no longer there. Any ideas of where to find it?
Simply brilliant song! Keep us up to date Mike.
