“She wanted Mary Poppins and I took her to King Lear”

When I first heard of The Wombats it was in relation to a massive gig they were playing in China to thousands of people. Then I find out they’ve got some records on indie label Kids. Now I’m sure they’ll be snapped up by major (if they haven’t been yoinked already) on the strength of the a little over-radio friendly indie pop (not to be confused with indie-pop) tune “Lost in the post”. I smell re-release all over this track. I feel there being an inevitability about me falling out with The Wombats, when they get signed by a major and stop writing great music. But that’s just me and for now they are ours. The best indie pop song I have heard since Los Campesinos.
Lost in the Post by the Wombats
If you like that you’ll love “Moving to New York” (mp3) I can’t wait to hear some Chinese indie bands inspired by western indie-rock increasingly being shipped over there…

Best of August post tomorrow, podcast the day after.
I’d be really intrested to hear if you are still enjoying the blog after a couple of months of posting and whether you dig the format I’ve got going - new music in every post and a few links tagged on the end. Is there anything you’d like to see more or less of? Post your locations in the world if you comment - I’d love to know where you are reading from.

ah! bless, you no comments yet! If it helps I’m really enjoying the format and choice of music.
I think it’s good but do it whichever way you want to. Keep the focus on exciting, new music then it’s all good.
