Fat Cat Records have given me a couple of copies of Frightened Rabbit’s “The Midnight Organ Fight” to give away. I’d recommend checking them out on their U.K tour which starts tonight in Manchester, before hitting 16 more towns and cities during April.
To win, leave a comment specifying your location in the world and let me known how the weather is where you are. I’ll send one album to a lucky UK reader, and one further abroad. If you really like or really don’t like any of the tracks on the tape, let me know that too.

I’ve spent the last few days looking at few hundred of myspace pages. Seriously. Hundreds. There’s lots of good stuff to come in the next few weeks…

Update: Thinking about it, I’d love my favourite — and highly recommended — music and mp3 blogs to define the direction they take and the sort of music they write about through a 12 track mixtape. In fact, all blogs should do this. It’s too easy to get lost in the mp3 blog world, a mixtape might help those you are guiding understand.

Funnily enough I’ve been slowly creating a muxtape and started it with Jonquil’s Lions too. http://jc.muxtape.com
It’s a great intro tune! Although listened as part of there superb album (Lions - buy it at Amazon/ Try Harder records) it fades in nicely to the middle of the album: the build up to it start one minute before the track starts on the album.
The zip file doesn’t work! :(
fixed! sorry Steve.
so who wants a frightened rabbit album?
I’ll take one since I managed to resist the promo copy in Avalanche :) I’m in Edinburgh so I get to see them live fairly often.
I would love a copy of the the Frightened Rabbit’s “The Midnight Organ Fight.” Even though it is supposed to be spring here in Portland, Maine it is still cloudy and gray with a high of 40 F. I need a new album to motivate me crawl out of bed and start running again now that the snow has melted.
I should probably let everyone know how the weather is here…
It started off grey and murky. It brightened up. It went grey. It starting snowing - huge flakes. It rained - heavily. It brightened up. It hailed. It got windy. The sun came out.
Well I would love a Frightened Rabbit album - love Snake. I’m in new cross, south east london, and its pissing it down after a week of brilliant sunshine. some Frightened Rabbit would cheer me up….
I’m in London and it’s been a lovely morning here, now it’s overcast and looking a bit sh1t. Am off to see the Rabbits on Monday and very much looking forward to it. A free album would be nice too :)
I actually started one yesterday but I’ve only uploaded two songs (one needs to reup though) and I’m to busy today so I wont be able to complete it until Sunday. Give it a listen then, hope you enjoy ;) ( http://moka.muxtape.com )
I’m listening to yours while having breakfast and so far it’s been a good companion :)
I’m currently living in the center of the third world and it’s incredibly hot in here.
Btw, I think ryan already submitted his: http://catbird.muxtape.com/
yeh - ryan did the parody before the event
I look forward to hearing yours!
Hi Mike! Here in Blanes (Catalonia) the weather was really nice when I get in to work, some hours ago (Spring time in Costa Brava, I suppose…). Now it’s quite late and dark, I’m tired, I’m going home, but at least it doesn’t rain… The tape is really fine, but I have just downloaded it, so I will finish to listen to it at home, in front of supper. Salut!
Oh, yes, very nice blog!
Not a bad idea, mike… I actually spent a few days this week making some mixes for a friend of mine, maybe I condense those tracks into 12…
Nice mix!

Here in Hong Kong, it’s a nice sunny warm weekend after an unseasonably cold - and too seasonably damp - week…. Really like ‘Go Go Girls’ so would like to hear more of Frightened Rabbit.
All the way down in Perth (Australia), it’s comfortably warm with mostly clear blue skies and random patches of very heavy rainfall. It’s rather strange weather really.
Liking the site very much…
The weather is nice in Guildford, considering yesterday all I could see was snow for miles and miles. The sun is slowly starting to go down, but it’s been rather sunny for most of today. A bit nippy, but I’m not a softie.
Anyway, I’ve started a new blog and added your site as a link. If you could take the time to check it out, it would be much appreciated…

In Glasgow it’s effin freezin’, stay inside weather. I’m just recovering from a horrible virus thing and I’m not setting foot outside until all evidence of nippy-ness has been eradicated. This gives me a great excuse to listen to the compo and I’m really loving the Held By Hands track a lot. I’d be happy to receive a copy of the Frightened Rabbit CD, and I’m going to make a point of going to the album lauch at Mono a week tonight!
as andy says its effin freezin here!
though im in ayr, and its started chuckin it down aswell, im downloadin the zipfile of your mixtape as i write this, and im gonna make one for my blog =)
shameless link to my blog..

I in Canberra, Australia and the weather here is starting to turn quite cold. It makes me sad because my girlfriend just moved to Sydney, where it is still warm, and she is having heaps of fun going to the beach everyday.
I would love the Album if I’m not too late.
Hello Mike, I’m From Romania! Right now the weather is awful here, cause it keeps raining over and over and i think this is probably a consequence of global warming. =S
I’m here in Chicago where it’s warm/cool and rainy/sunny, depending on what time of the day it is. Spring is a very schizophrenic season. . . . Great mixtape! I’m not familiar with all of the bands, so it was nice to hear something new. I’m really liking Cats In Paris. 8-]
id lke a copy of the frightened rabbit album.
im located in ky, united states. the weather is 58 degrees and cloudy. it will probably rain.
It is always more important what the weather will be than what it is now. Tomorrow shall be unbelievably 22 degrees of Celsius here in Bratislava in Slovakia, my homeland.
That is fine, but the “problem” is that I am flying tomorrow to Paris to stay there for a few days and it is not only important what, but also where the weather will be, and in Paris shall be 9 degrees less …
I have discovered your blog only yesterday, your mixtape can be heard tomorrow in my earphones, I t will let you know what is my impression …
mike,
i made a muxtape. it’s sort of a work in progress though.
http://gorillavsbear.muxtape.com/
p.s. it has more hip-hop then i originally intended
Heyla, I’m in Ipswich in Suffolk, trying to get 6 months worth of coursework done so that I can pass this damn course and move to Glasgow, and I’m also washing my clothes for work tonight. When I woke up this morning it was bright blue skies and cool, brisk breezes. I planned a picnic, got my knitting, put on my shorts and was going to head to the park. As I type this, sleet is falling and my cats are cowering under the table because the thunder is making the windows shake. Poor kitties. They don’t know what’s going on; they were happy chasing leaves an hour ago. I’m going to make some apple crumble and try and get warmer before I go to work this evening.
Since downloading your muxtape earlier this week, I have pledged all of my future children to Frightened Rabbit. I’m also on a one-girl campaign to get them to play at Latitude Festival. And one day the drums in Modern Leper and I will get married and have beautiful healthy boom-y babies. xxx
Hi Mike,
Like the look of your site, can we send you mp3’s to review.? If you could drop us an email that’d be great :)
cheers
Dedee
p.s. I’m in London and it’s (still) chilly and cloudy outside. It’s a lot colder than it was this time last year!
Nice mixtape. I’m going to see Let’s Wrestle soon, should be interesting
the weather here in darkest Somerset is sunny enough to bake all the tiny teenagers covered in bacofoil and duckfat - teencrackling abounds, the smell is beyond compare
